Using an Endpoint with Salesforce External Data Source

    Salesforce External Data Source only supports the use of OData endpoints. To use an OData endpoint with Salesforce's External Data Source feature, perform the following:

    1. Navigate to the ​Setup  menu.
    2. Using the search bar, enter "​​External Data Sources​​". Select ​External Data Sources​​ from the Setup menu.
    3. Select ​New External Data Source​​ ​​​​​​ to add a new endpoint.
    4. The New External Data Source window is displayed. Enter the following information:
    • ​External Data Source:​​ Enter a custom label for the new data source.
    • Name:​​ Enter a custom name for the new data source.
    • Type:​ Select "​Salesforce Connect: OData 4.0​​" from the dropdown list.

    1. Under URL, enter the ​OData URL​​.
    2. Under Authentication, select the following:
    • ​Identity Type:​ Select "​Per User​​" from the dropdown list.
    • Authentication Protocol:​ Select "​Password Authentication​​" from the dropdown list.

    1. Enter the following user information:
    • Username:​ Enter "​token​​".
    • Password:​ Enter the user's ​Authentication Token​​.

    1. Select ​Save  to confirm the entered information.
    2. On the review page, select ​Validate and Sync  to finish the creation process.
    3. On the sync page, select a field from the object dropdown list.
    4. Select ​Sync  to add the object to the External Data Source.
    5. The synced object is now available in the External Objects section. Under Custom HTTP Headers, select ​New  to create a query.
    6.  Enter the following information:
    • Header Field Name:​​ Enter a name for the query.
    • Description:​​ Provide a description for the query.

    1. Under Header Field Value, enter a query for the endpoint data or select the ​Show Formula Editor​​ link to open a set of tools to help write a query.
    2. Once a query has been entered, select ​Save  to finish the creation process.
    3. The new query can now be used with the endpoint data.
