How do I Replicate or Seed production data into a sandbox environment?

    1. Ensure that you have added a Salesforce service for both your production and sandbox environments. Verify that at least 1 backup for each service has been successfully completed.

    2. Next, choose what tool you want/need to use, according to the following:

      • For full org replication and seeding from backup, choose the Replicate tool
      • For more granular seeding from Production org or from another sandbox, use the Sandbox Seeding tool

    Seeding using the Replicate tool

In the "Replicate" tab, use any one of the following methods to replicate data into a Sandbox:

    • "Full Org"
    • "Full Org with Delete"
    • "Multiple Parent Objects"
    1. Select which service you want to search within & click Next.

    2. Select one of the data replication methods listed above. When selecting "Multiple Parent Objects", remember to select the parent objects to be replicated and to select the hierarchy depth, in order to control the number of related records that are replicated with the parent objects.

    3. Select a backup date to pull data from within the backups from.

    4. Select the sandbox to be the destination org.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions that allow you to preview the data. Upon your approval, that data is replicated to the destination environment.

Be aware that differing size limits between production and sandbox environments may impact the success of the cross-environment replication operation.

Seeding using the Sandbox Seeding tool

    1. In the "Sandbox Seeding" tab, click to create a new template.

    2. Set the template name, source destination, and the Anonymization template you want to use.

    3. In the Template Builder, define the objects hierarchy you want to seed, use filters, and limit/coverage to refine your seeding data.

    4. Click Seed. You can select the destination source and seeding method.

    5. If required, click Edit, to select the automation you wish to disable. You are redirected to the Automations tab. In the Automations tab, select any one of the following options:

      • do not disable

      • disable all

      • custom (to select specific automations that you want disabled)

    6. Click Seed. The seeding process begins, and you are transferred to the Recent Seeds tab. In the Recent Seeds table, follow the progress of the seeding process and review the logs.
