Using a Discover Endpoint with Tableau

    Tableau supports the use of both SQL and OData endpoints.

    To use an SQL endpoint, perform the following:

    1. Open ​Tableau​​.
    2. On the ​Connect​ menu, under the ​To a Server​ section, select ​Databricks​​.
    3. The Databricks window appears. Enter the following information:
    • Server Hostname:​ Enter the ​SQL Host​​.
    • HTTP Path:​ Enter the ​SQL HTTP Path​​.
    • Authentication:​ Select ​Personal Access Token​​.
    • Password:​ Enter the user's ​Authentication Token​​.

    1. Tableau opens a new book and connects to the endpoint.
    2. Under ​Catalog​​, add the API Catalog​​.
    3. Under ​Database​​, add the ​API Schema​​ and then select a desired table (object) for review.

    To use an ODATA endpoint, perform the following:

    1. Open ​Tableau​​.
    2. On the ​Connect​ menu, under the ​To a Server​ section, select ​OData​​.
    3. The OData window appears. Under ​Server​​, enter the ​OData URL​​.
    4. Under ​Authentication​​, select "​Username and Password​​" from the dropdown list and enter the following information:
    • Username:​ Enter "​token​​".
    • ​Password:​ Enter the user's ​Authentication Token​​.

    1. Tableau opens a new book and connects to the endpoint.

    To use an SQL endpoint, perform the following:

    1. Open ​Tableau​​.
    2. On the ​Connect​ menu, under the ​To a Server​ section, select ​Databricks​​.

    • HTTP Path:​ Enter the ​SQL HTTP Path​​.
